UTM Validator

Paste your campaign URLs - one per line - and catch the mistakes that quietly split your analytics reports: missing parameters, mixed casing, spaces, duplicates and encoding errors.

How it works

Each URL is parsed and its UTM parameters are checked against Google Analytics conventions. utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign are required - without all three, sessions get bucketed as direct or other. Uppercase letters are flagged because GA treats Facebook and facebook as separate sources, and raw spaces are flagged because they break links in emails. Where a URL can be safely cleaned up, a corrected version is offered to copy.

Basic guide

Paste one or more campaign URLs, with one URL on each line. The validator checks the UTM parameters for missing required tags, inconsistent casing, spaces, duplicates and encoding problems.

Use it before launching a campaign or when auditing a batch of existing URLs.

Example

Input:

https://example.com/sale?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=cpc
https://example.com/sale?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=spring-sale

The first URL is missing utm_campaign and uses different source casing from the second.

The validator flags these issues so the campaign URLs can be standardised before they enter analytics data.
