XML Sitemap Validator

Paste the contents of your sitemap.xml and check it against the sitemaps.org spec: well-formed XML, valid absolute URLs, correct date formats, duplicates and the 50,000-URL limit.

Open your sitemap URL, view source, and paste it here. Nothing is uploaded.

Paste a sitemap to validate it.

How it works

Your sitemap is parsed as XML in your browser. We confirm the root element and namespace are correct, then check every <loc> is a valid absolute http(s) URL, every <lastmod> uses W3C date format, changefreq and priority values are within spec, and that you're under the 50,000-URL and 50MB limits. Duplicate URLs and unescaped ampersands - the two most common causes of rejected sitemaps - are flagged too.

Basic guide

Paste the contents of your sitemap.xml into the validator.

The tool checks that the XML is correctly structured, URLs are valid absolute HTTP(S) URLs, dates use the expected format, duplicates are absent and the sitemap stays within the relevant limits.

Example

Paste a sitemap containing:

<url>
  <loc>https://example.com/product</loc>
  <lastmod>2026-09-20</lastmod>
</url>

The validator checks the structure and flags problems such as invalid URLs, malformed dates, duplicate URLs or XML errors.
